Lliam Worthington
Lliam Worthington is a multi-award winning film maker and the lead writer, director and producer at New Realms Films and artist in residence at RYSS - Youth Arts Central Coast 2017. Lliam's career began with the study of acting and directing at the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) in 1992, then continued at the University of Wollongong and the University of Western Sydney Nepean. Lliam went on to work as an actor and circus performer, receiving parts in TV drama, film and theatre. In 1996 Lliam Co-founded and became the director of Heartspace Theatre Company. The company performed widely and developed productions with peak organisations such as the World Health Organisation and Wesley Mission, winning wide acclaim. In 1998 Lliam was awarded ATYP's Young Director Mentorship Scheme and went on to write and direct 'Good Soul Blues' for ATYP's 1998 season at The Wharf in Sydney. After touring the Central Coast, Lliam was commissioned to lead a ground breaking arts project being developed by Central Coast Area Health for young people suffering from psychosis and directly affected by suicide. The key component, was a Star Wars fan film starring the young people suffering from psychosis. Lliam fell in love with film, and began transferring his theatre directing and writing skills, going on to study part time at AFTRS, Metro Screen and under many renowned international teachers such as Judith Weston. In 2003, on the back of his award winning short film 'Shayalor' Lliam co-founded the film production company 'New Realms Films'. Over the next twelve years, Lliam has worked as a producer, director, writer, editor and DP, honing his skills on short films, music videos, POC's, circus and theatre, while writing and co-developing a slate of feature film scripts and properties for New Realms Films. Lliam's debut feature 'One Less God' opened with great acclaim at the Chinese Theatres in Hollywood, winning the Industry Choice Award, and the Grand Jury Prize at the 20th Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles - the first feature film to ever win both of the top two awards in the festivals history. 'One Less God' then returned to Australia, premiering at the Byron Bay International Film Festival, and going on to win Best Picture - beating out a host of critically acclaimed and much larger budgeted films. One Less God has gone on to sell and be released in multiple countries throughout the world. Lliam is presently in development on New Realms Films slate of film and television projects.
